Behind The Chair: A Guide To Our Colour Services at FLINT Salon in Norwich
What happens before, during and after your colour appointment at Flint.
Hair colour has changed. What used to be a fairly straightforward choice between highlights, a tint or a full head of colour has become much more personal - and we think that’s a good thing.
At Flint hair salon in Norwich, we see colour as a conversation, a collaboration and, quite often, a little bit of a work in progress. Your hair, your lifestyle, what you’ve had done before and where you want to go next all play a part in creating the right service for you.
So, while our price list gives you a useful starting point, there’s a lot more happening behind those numbers. Below, we break down how we approach colour at Flint, the different services and techniques we offer, and everything you need to know to get the most from your appointment.
The Consultation - Where Your Colour Really Begins
Every appointment begins with a proper conversation. We'll talk through what you have now, what you'd like to achieve, what’s realistic for your hair and how much time we need to get there.
We’ll also carry out a skin test where required, and your stylist will use the consultation to build a personalised plan for your appointment. Sometimes that plan is beautifully simple. Sometimes it involves a combination of techniques, a little extra lightening, a tailored toner or a root smudge to bring everything together.
That’s the beauty of modern colour: there isn’t always one service that fits neatly into a box.
How Our Colour Menu Works
Our colour menu is designed around a few different approaches, from our Essential Services and traditional foiling techniques to more bespoke, freehand colour created specifically for you.
Freehand services can take a little longer because they’re designed rather than prescribed. Your FLINT stylist may work with different techniques, placement and tones to create something that feels completely individual - whether that’s a softer, lived-in result, more dimension, a brighter blonde or a subtle change that grows out beautifully.
And because no two heads of hair are the same, your appointment may evolve as we work. We can tailor your colour with additional toners, extra lightening, root smudges and other finishing techniques where they’re needed.
Colour, With a Little More Thought
We’re big on getting the detail right - not just creatively, but technically too.
Our whole team continues to train in the latest colour products, techniques and technology from our trusted brand partners Davines, Bumble and bumble & WELLA, so there’s always fresh knowledge coming into the salon. We also use technology such as Vish to accurately measure the colour used during your appointment. This helps us reduce unnecessary waste and means we can price services more fairly and accurately.
It’s a small detail, but we think the little things matter.
Treatments to Make Your Colour Last Longer
Colour is only part of the appointment. We want your hair to look and feel great when you leave, too.
Depending on what your hair needs, you can add a tailored treatment to your colour service. That might be a nourishing mask for a little extra care (£10), a colour-depositing mask to refresh or intensify your colour (£12), or a deeper treatment such as Innoluxe or WellaPlex (£15–£20) when your hair needs a little more attention.
Your stylist can talk you through what would work best for your hair on the day.
The Finishing Touch
Once your colour is complete, your appointment finishes with your choice of a Cut & Blow Dry or a Blow Dry service.
For a full Blow Dry and style, prices range from £15-£20. Or, if you’re happy to leave the styling to another day, you can opt for a complimentary quick rough dry, which may sometimes be carried out with one of our salon team members.
Either way, you leave with your colour done and ready for whatever comes next.
So, What Will Your Colour Actually Cost?
This is where it gets personal. Our price list is designed to give you a helpful guide, rather than pretending every colour appointment can be reduced to one fixed price.
The final cost depends on the service your hair actually needs, the time involved and any additional colour or treatments agreed during your consultation.
Your stylist will always talk you through this with you beforehand, so you know what to expect. Think of our price list as the starting point. Your consultation is where we work out the rest.
